in the library and on the Internet about these

box;Pencil sharpener/knife, etc.; This lesson could be integrated with a

Arts The Students will Select one of the
graphic organizers to demonstrate the evolution of the
invention. They will then explain orally or in
writing why the invention needed to be changed over
time. Machine Inventor 3. Identify commonly used resources,
their sources, and where waste products go. Know the characteristics of commonly
used resources and where waste products go Discuss sources for food and
water. Discuss where the waste products for
these might go. Examples could be apples and water
used in washing. The student would draw a flow chart
showing where the food or water originated and what happens
to it after humans use it. or The student will answer a fill in the
blank or multiple choice questions could also be

Kroll relative to specific inventions and scientific
knowledge. Practice using a Venn diagram,
T chart or some kind of graphic organizer to
compare their life relative
to specific inventions and scientific
knowledge to those of people in
the books. This activity could work well with
English
Language Art Students will write a piece explaining
how their lives have changed and become easier because of
improved specific inventions or scientific knowledge from
those of people who lived a 100 years ago. Other assessments could include using
puppets, diorama which include explanation of how the change
and improvement was caused by specific inventions or
