Performance Task (Assessment of Benchmark): 
Working singly or in pairs, students will create an oral and visual explanation of a chemical and a physical change. 
  

Procedure/Directions: 
Students will have been presented with many opportunities to discuss, explore, observe and record examples of chemical change and physical change (including the lesson using markers and the lesson using steel wool). They will help to develop the rubric to be used in assessing this task. Students will then be given class time to create and present their explanations of chemical and physical change.
